Greg van Ginkel
Role in EQUA: Managing Partner, Construction Leader
Can you tell us about your background?
With nearly forty years of experience in insurance and risk management, I'm a specialist in risk strategy and program formulation for complex business and fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining EQUA, I was a managing director for a large multinational broker, where I oversaw program formulation and syndication at both the regional and national level. Specifically, I grew to become the National Construction and Design Leader. Later, I was a Co-Owner and CEO of a regional brokerage based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
I have significant experience working in a variety of business sectors, including Power & Energy, Telecommunications, Grain Handling and Distribution, Steel Manufacturing, National Banking, Construction, Education, and Government groups of all levels. I'm a certified Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) with the International Risk Management Institute — I've dedicated my career to creating innovative products and services in this sector and look forward to spearheading the construction practice at EQUA.
When did you meet Dave and Andy?
I met Dave as early as 1993 while working in Calgary. Although we were competitors for the majority of my career, we always kept in touch. I met Andy when joining EQUA, but having already heard of him, we immediately clicked!
Why be part of the EQUA adventure?
I genuinely believe in EQUA's business philosophy: treat your colleagues, clients and underwriters the way you want to be treated. We are dedicated to sharing knowledge and to working diligently and with a purpose. We love connecting with clients, colleagues, and underwriters who align with that philosophy and approach, and we’re excited to have them with us on EQUA's journey.
